Meet the Designer

Hi. My name is Nissa Askew and I am the founder, owner, and designer of Askew Media Web Design. From the time I was very young, I have been passionate about and deeply involved in artistic endeavors. Some of my favorite pastimes have included painting, drawing, appreciating other peoples music or producing and playing my own, doing murals, and anything else that has allowed me to exercise my creativity.

My first computer presented a whole new, flexible medium that allowed endless creative possibilities, and as I learned my way around its’ programming, I quickly realized that this was an invaluable tool for my artistic production. My interests in web and graphic design, in particular, began with the idea of presenting my resume in a creative format that would be easily accessible to potential employers. My idea at the time was to create an online resume. While I searched the internet for HTML and CSS tutorials I needed in order to complete this task, I fell in love with this new and challenging technology.

In the world of code, I have found a form of work that is both enjoyable and creative. In the seven years since posting that resume, I have put seven years of design and development experience under my belt. I now have a successful web design business that brings me a sense of accomplishment and gratification. Chasing this dream was a decision that I do not regret in the least. I love what I do so much that it doesn’t even feel like work, even after working the occasional fourteen hour day.

For me, the learning never stops. In this industry, technologies are always quickly changing, and to continually learn and change along with it is a challenge that I enjoy. I always stay on top of changing web and internet technologies, latest industry standards, newest design styles, creative advertising strategies, etc., and I bring this knowledge to my clients when building their websites that have it all, both beauty and brains.
