Askew Media Blog

So you are a new business or individual and you want a website?  Not sure where to start?  No worries.  This Website-Start-Up Guide should get you started.  Of course, Askew Media Web Design is always here to help you through the process.

  1. Determine Your Goals
  2. Set Aside a Budget
  3. Choose a Domain Name
  4. Get Web Hosting
  5. Gather Content
  6. Create Website Structure
  7. Find a Website Developer

1.        Determine Your Goals

The first step in planning your website is to determine the goals that you are looking to achieve.  What kind of website do you want?

-          Informational only?

-          Blog or Online Journal?

-          Online Store where people can make purchases

           directly from your website?

-          Portfolio to display your works (such as art, music,

           photography, etc)?

-          A Simple Website for your potential customers to

           get your company information?

-          Interactive where viewers can play games or other

           interactive activities?

-          Portal where people can search databases or the
internet for specific websites or info?

There are many more types of websites out there than those listed above.  You must choose the one that suits your business needs appropriately.   Many small to medium sized businesses start out with a simple website that is simply there as an online brochure, coupon, and company information website.
